Eve of Poll letter to the voters of Cork South Central
Last updated on 24 Feb, 2011

Summary:
Dear Resident,
On tomorrow, Friday we vote in what I believe is the most important general election in a generation.
Cork needs a strong voice now more than ever. It is a privilege to represent Cork South Central in Dáil
Éireann. As Minister for Education, Health, Enterprise, Trade and Employment as well as Minister for
Foreign Affairs I have worked to deliver for Cork locally, nationally and internationally.
As Leader of Fianna Fáil I intend to continue that work. I look forward with your support in the next Dáíl
to doing my utmost to fast-track economic renewal and job creation.
In this election, I have set out a plan which focuses on the key actions which will restore the public finances.
This is an essential foundation upon which growth and employment will be built.
My main priority is jobs. Up to 150,000 jobs can be created with the right policies over the lifetime of
Fianna Fáil’s Plan. I have set out how this can be achieved on a sector by sector basis.
I am also proposing real political reform which will give us a Dáil focused on national issues and a
government opened up to experts from all sectors – ending the dominance of professional politicians.
These reforms will mean better politics, and better politics means a stronger economy that will bring
sustainable jobs in its train.
I believe Cork continues to have great potential and as your local TD my pledge for the coming years is
to work for the creation of well paid jobs for all our people.
My priorities are
• Jobs and Investment
• Investment in Education
• Modernisation of Infrastructure
• Developing Quality and Accessible Healthcare
• Developing Flood Defences for Cork City
• Energy Efficiency and Climate Change
• Environment
• Supporting the Creative Arts
Your No.1 Vote would be greatly appreciated to enable me to continue working on your behalf to secure
the future of Cork. I would also ask you to continue your preference to my Fianna Fáil colleague Michael
McGRATH TD.
Míle Buíochais,
